Our main aim is to listen to the community - by hosting kitchen table conversations and by running a survey - and collect all information into a report. Here is a snapshot of what we've found so far
What’s Cooking? KTC Stats …
We’re continuing to analyse the outcomes of our Kitchen Table Conversations and to date, have had 80 very engaged participants from across Bunbury, Busselton, Donnybrook, Dunsborough and the Margaret River area. Residents strongly value our local environment and the beauty and diversity of our region; the lifestyle we enjoy; very strong community engagement, the feeling of inclusiveness and a clear sense of place; shared community vision; the amenities and services available across the electorate; and the variety and depth of cultural and other events. Concerns at LGL and State levels continue to be around town planning, especially in terms of the planning process and the overturning or amendments to projects without proper community consultation; the lack of commitment to addressing climate change; food and housing insecurity, domestic violence; health services and community care. Federally, participants are concerned about government services; taxation reform; political donations/paid events; lobbists; misinformation and dishonesty (individuals/party representatives.media); Cost of Living issues and the widening gap between rich and poor; lack of commitment to climate change and watered down environmental protection.
Overwhelmingly, KTC participants are looking for better representation at the Federal level, with the new incumbent working with our community to deliver on agreed electorate expectations whilst respecting and upholding our shared values and vision. We will keep working on the information gathered, with a full report available once this round of KTCs conclude in late May. If you’d like to host a KTC at your place or attend one in your area, please drop us a line via https://www.voicesforforrest.org/volunteer. Alternatively, you can share your thoughts by completing our current online Community Survey. We’d love to add your voice!
