Now ‘retired’, I worked in arts and heritage across Australia and New Zealand for more than 40 years. During my working life I held onto the belief that artists can tell us what it is like to live at this time and in this place and in doing so forewarn us about the future we face. I still believe that but we no longer have the time to sit in the audience and simply applaud.
In these times of increasing uncertainty my greatest concern is that the impacts of a rapidly changing climate, accelerated by corporate greed and selfishness, will overwhelm us all and everything we care about.
Party politics is captured and corrupted leaving community level organising as the only viable option for ensuring responsible representation so that all voices are heard. Voices for Forrest is a catalyst for that essential change. It’s up to you and me now to make it work.
